Nick Romeo’s two poems

p style=”line-height: 0.5;”>Aspiring Perfection

We got into a math discussion

Ascending from teaching her students:

De Moivre’s Theorem

         Polar coordinates of ‘i’

         Then

Transforming into favorite numbers

Mine: 1, 3, 13

Hers: 6

I said that six is perfect

As shown in the Aliquot Sequence

Which transfers / charts to a constant

flat line of perfect 6’s

Yet my faves are deficient descending

Quickly to 1’s

            bottoming out

She asked why

            Why all the math

then I told her the secret

            that one no one knows

I failed the entrance exam

Then

I swore an oath that day

It’ll be the last deficient catastrophe

I want to tell her

There are new numbers

I’m adopting

           Still considering

Now

Please note my new prized numbers

25, 95, 909

Lead On

I’m heavy with natural elements

Leading you down corridors

Windy and winding with gusts

Exploding in a vacuum packed

With chloroform and techno-color

Picking up my leafless body

Chucking it against your face

Blinding at times tormenting perhaps

As I twist about in the hallway

Stalling and looking for direction

While I complicate with toxic weight

And stymie motion toward the door

As it is I who needs to be contained

Separated from all chemistry

Adapting to laws of natural order

Separate spaces for mind and body

So that you can thrust lead swords

Thru my basket casing

Piercing my entirety

Then I can be holy.

When Nick Romeo is not at his nine-to-five occupation, which is strongly situated in the STEM fields, he plays laser tag with his two cats, and they always win. As of now, he resides in a bunker 50 miles below the surface in Pittsburgh PA to work on his book, only to emerge for poetry readings and his fave beverage: London Fog.
