Pavle Gligorović’s poem: Leviathan

In the dark awaken sleepy owls,

overgrown with silence,

their eyes fixed

upon the red moon,

which smells of moss,

the northeast,

and your hesitations.

Whenever you are seized

by a passing shame,

my elbows strike against

the sands of time

through the night.

The broken lines of our youth,

slanted and uneven,

collide with one another.

Turn away the masons of time,

so they may deny to others

the time once promised to us,

imprisoned in cascading motion,

with an unsteady step.

Aleksandra,

I am Leviathan.
