Linette Rabsatt’s three more poems

Built

Graceful ballerina

Elegant swimmer

A strut that

breaks momentum

Jumping to heights

Like Jordan

Or with speed like Bolt

Soft footsteps

Across the carpet

Tap dances by the

Pool table

Legs that are capable

Strong

Sexy and toned

Ready for the road

Creative Fuel

I want to write you into existence

make you my muse

because I choose to find

a way out

my pen is thirsty to produce

dissertations that dissect

complex concepts

but

I have no inspiration

my brain no longer

reeks of innovation

I need to write you into existence

be my stimulus

help me to push that pen

not just for one day

over and over

again and then again

my creative fuel

Deny

Breast cancer denied you

the opportunity to see

your first great grandchild

our hearts became more heavy

because in a few years

your grandson died

we pray that he rests with you

even as we think about your journey

it makes our hearts continually cry

because we can no longer speak with you

you were denied the opportunity

to see my children graduate

to encourage them to live their best

for their goals – remain passionate

although we feel that we were denied

just another day spent with you

God had other plans

for us to see his love through you

although you’re gone

and life’s not the same

it’s doesn’t mean that we’ve given up

we may be denied another day with you

but our love for you remains the same

  1. Hi! Knots.
“Built” incorporates athletes and their influence to write with “Creative Fuel” that would unearth “Deny” to reminisce and persevere.

Knots, you did a marvelous job!
