Royden Preston‘s twin poems: Choking on the embers of autumns and Woken up by the sound the stars make

Choking on the embers of autumns
Woken up by the sound the stars make

Choking on the embers of autumn

Laying in the cold November rain

Fading fortune, this was promised

Found within the greatest pain

Death walks freely, hidden among us

For our calling, we must wait

Woken at dawn by dew drop kisses

An answer to my questioned fate

Tonight was our demise

Words sound louder with zippered lips

My heart was yours to find

Now lost forever like sea-drowned ships

Woken up by the sound the stars make

The brilliance of silence at its best

Awe struck by the fear instilled

Taken aback by breaths not filled

Fear of the future

Worry of the past

The presence of an ill fated man

Damned by his demons, the evil that hides

The darkness that follows at night

Chasing the thrill

Of post spirit chills

Sitting in utter disgust

The loss of my trust…

I danced with the stars tonight.
