Supurna Dasgupta‘s translation of Shankha Ghosh’s poem: Rains (Bengali to English)

Rains

My woebegone days are transcendent

My days of joy drift afloat

On days of such pouring rains

All I recall is the day of death.

Again the fields of joy will flood

Again the crop of pain shall thrive

On days of such pouring rains

I recall that there’s no end to being born.
