Persis Taraporevala‘s trio of poems

#1: Piece

We are peaceful beings

they said,

as they destroyed homes hearts and hope

one piece

at a time.

#2: My grandmother told me

Dida spoke

of land

water

and air,

on the other side

of a line drawn,

arbitrarily,

by men in closed rooms

where the stench of anger

and imminent deadlines

cut across geographies,

and made us

separate.

#3: Freedom

Love is generative,

as is fear.

Choose.
