Mary Bone’s three poems

Breaking Bread

Olives are growing in the garden.

Pomegranates are ready to pick.

Beans and legumes

are cooking on the stove.

A celebration is in the making.

Traditional breads are baking.

Fish were caught from the sea.

My homeland calls.

It is time to break bread.

Rainwater Flowers

Granny saved her rain water

to sprinkle on her plants.

She would let it rain down

on beautiful flowers.

They flourished in the sunshine.

Life in the Glades

The glade life has fronds growing

near the edge.

Sharp teeth surround this habitat.

Small ponds on the outskirt-

are filled with life giving sustenance.

for another day.
