Dear Arpan,
It could be said that I’ve written four books of varying sizes and descriptions over the past six years, partly owing to the strange times of Covid and, in no small part, thanks to someone I fondly refer to as the ‘Dean of Dean Street’—but more on him later.
When you, my dear and hard-working acquaintance from way out East, suggested designing an ebook of my work—“my journey,” as you called it—I must admit I hadn’t the faintest clue. I’ve heard of an ebook, of course, but I couldn’t have told you the difference between an ebook and an fbook.
You explained that you would design the ebook in something called ‘LaTeX’ (which, as Google tells me, is “a high-quality typesetting system”). That was reassuring in its own way, yet it left me wondering: how do we actually begin? How do we get cracking and gather the threads of my first love—storytelling—back to that little prize I won at primary school, which, as it happened, was Molly, the New Forest Pony?
Something along those lines, dear Arpan—how do we start?
With warm regards,
Peter
