Eva Petropoulou Lianou’s two poems

Contact

I forgot what a kiss is

The taste of an afternoon coffee…

So, as the waves pull from the land,

I feel like a desert ship.

Contact—

I forgot what that word meant.

Shipwrecked for months,

In books I look for a meaning to embrace me,

To tell me everything will be fine…

To go and leave those roses in my father's memory,

To light a candle to the Virgin Mary.

Contact,

To be in your dreams

Hug me

Let me see your eyes

To smell your perfume

I’m looking for that word in that old dictionary

Hearts

Your heart tonight

Touches my heart

Like the first time…

My heart

Close to your heart,

They whisper,

They talk as if they’ve known each other for years.

Your heart tonight

Makes love to my soul —

A love full of passion,

With care,

With respect.

Your heart tonight

Shows me

That the magic moment

Exists.

Your heart

Touches my heart

Like a child.

Your heart

Has its own

Prophetic knowledge.

You are a diamond,

But I had to climb

The highest volcano

To find you…
