Somali Mukherjee’s two poems

At a Lonesome Leisure

I stretched out my arms

Under the azure silken sky;

Nature’s endless charms

Freely answer every ‘how’ and ‘why’.

Getting mingled with her,

I could listen to the roaring ripple;

The herald, the harbinger

Can balm the wounds of all the people.

At times, she extends her hand;

Well, do we care to hold it tight?

We torment, we reprimand

Her; still, she guides us with her light.

She does never, never age;

My heart gets infused with peace;

She ought to evince her outrage

When we misuse our great bliss.

I could listen to the whisper

Of the breeze so pure and true,

“We all are friends, aye, forever;

As you say, so shall you do.”

Endurance, the Key

Those grassy blades call me,

“Sister, try and learn how to endure;

You’ll write your own destiny

For your future your present deeds ensure.”

The more you endure,

The more will you grow;

The wounds all need cure;

Hang on if you wish to know.

Endurance owns tremendous effect;

None can take it away;

We all have flaws, we all have defect;

Hone your skills every day.

I became filled in awe;

This is called pure Nature!

Hone to banish every flaw;

Love every living creature.

We can learn everywhere;

We need to stoop and to ask;

We must listen to with care;

We better tear off the mask.
