Amusa Yusuf Owolabi’s three poems

Solitude

In a lonely quarter

In a quiet abode

In a serene environment

There l lie

In a silent apartment

In a tranquil area

In a calm hemisphere

There l lie

In a peaceful hut

In a cool mansion

In a still domain

There l lie

In an unruffled lodge

In an unperturbed home

In a lull residence

There l lie

In an undisturbed edifice

In a placid habitation

In a collected shelter

There l lie.

African Woman

You are the backbone of the continent

You are black

You are strong

You are industrious

You are intelligent

You are resilient

You are independent

You can carry out multifarious tasks

You are caring

You are supportive

You are trail blazers

Indeed, you are epitome of beauty

You possess all the positive virtues of life.

If

If l work hard

I will succeed

If l read my books

I will pass

If l come from a rich family

I will not suffer

If l am well connected

I will quickly achieve my goals

If l come from a royal family

I will be a king

If l refuse to be serious

I will be a failure

If l don't join multitude to do evil

The society will be a better place to live.
