Jasna Gugić’s three poems

Tear

I feel a tear coming on

In grey clouds

That smell of autumn rain,

Crying

And my poem brings disquiet

Into my frayed thoughts

Scattered over the whiteness of imagination.

Sorrow comes with autumn drops

And its smell is hideous

And sticky like resin.

After all, only ache remains

Like a seal impressed

In the middle of the heart,

Quenched with your tear of remorse.

If you should ever come back

Allow me to steal a smile

From your face

And chase away all the sorrows of this world.

Embrace My Silence

Embrace my silence

With your arms of happiness

And wrap my heart

In threads of silk

And don’t let the southern wind

Erase a smile

Of the gifted hope

From the fallen.

Embrace my silence

And you shall hear

A heartbeat

And the clatter of longing

In the silence of my infinity.

Embrace my silence

And call me by my name

On this night of suspense

And I shall come

Like a fairy

All in white

To open your eyes,

Which shine

Like burning stars.

Your eyes

Are like white lighthouses

In the fear of my depths.

Your eyes are like eternal diamonds

In the colours

Of glorious life.

All days are full of smiles

And tears no longer ache.

Lead me

Down the untrodden paths

Far, the farthest

Where my eye

Has never looked.

Rejoice me with a smile

And touch me with kindness

Casually,

As if by chance.

And laugh aloud

So I can hear

And keep that laughter

For another sad day,

A day

Without my colourful dreams.

Melt my whole iciness

And be an endless joy.

And make a searcher’s life smile.
