Eva Petropoulou Lianou’s two poems

Words

Silence is not the answer

When the sun rises.

The moon is a light

That gives birth

To our dreams.

Action,

We can only trust

When reality appears.

We don't need

Small minds;

We are here

To believe

In our thoughts

And in our principles.

When the miracle happens,

Only flour

Can offer the solution

To a hungry mouth.

Women

They are born,

They do not become.

They are the pillars of societies,

Of tribes.

They are,

They exist.

Women,

Creators of rainbows,

Of angels,

Of gods.

Women,

Show them respect,

As you respect your mother,

Your daughter,

Your sister.

Women,

We are meant to stand together,

But modern societies

Turn us into enemies—

Cheap,

Without care,

With sympathy,

Yet lacking empathy.

If women could remember their purpose,

The world could be different.
