Sinead McGuigan’s three poems

Boat of Dreams

Take me on your boat of dreams

Where we promised never to forget

Let me sleep in your golden eyes

Travelling to horizons where we met

Let me still lie beside you

Stare far beyond the skies

Feel the enchantment of your vision

The mirrors of your eyes

Let me see the world as you see it

Days colliding with the nights

The heart and soul of our union

Unbroken by our cries

Let us dive into the ocean

Filled with fantasy and truth

Holding hands and embracing

The symbols of our youth

You are still alive and present

In the centre of my heart

In the world we created

We will never be apart

Surround me in your presence

Let your spirit become whole

The crashing of the waves

Compelling our story to unfold

Take me to the mountains

To breathe in the crisp air

Let the morning dew wet our lips

Tasting the adventures we shared

The golden sunshine shining

The eternal love across the land

Let us paint the beaming beauty

Illuminating all our plans

Take me to the bridge of locks

Where the river calls your name

Remembering the heartbeat

Our love the holy grail

I will never stop dreaming

Or calling your name

I continue our journey

Until our souls touch again

We are Love

My love

We are infinite awareness

A collection of possibilities

Harbouring dark secrets

Unblemished from earthiness

My love

We are infinite knowledge

Pursuing unreasoned desires

Secrets hidden in plumes of smoke

Lost in silent wisdom

My love

We are infinite thoughts

Drifting towards conscious awareness

Vessels of life longing for connection

Lost in abstractions

My love

We are infinite longing

Unconscious impulse aligning

A diverse glory of sensations

Lost in tenderness of intimate touch

My love

We are infinite languages

Complex in form

Endless fluency of sound

Lost in pure syllables

My love

We are infinite pleasure

A fascination of artistry

Sensual seduction of imagination

Lost in stories of fantasy

We are infinite love

Winter

Winter holds the art of dying,

under a desolate dark sky.

Enter the void of cold dreams,

under a cloud of lies.

Forgotten bones rage and hunger,

screaming skin disintegrates.

Held deep within frozen ground,

our hearts filled with a deadly cold.

Dreaming eyes see forgotten lives,

misty mountains cry your name.

I whisper to the wind to take me,

into the haven of your soul
