Artist’s Note: On August 9, a postgraduate trainee doctor was raped and murdered in the seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College during her night shift. The brutality of the incident outraged the common people of Kolkata. It broke open the dark doors of corrupt megalomaniac authorities of the Hospital and the state of West-Bengal. Even artists cannot stay home anymore in front of their easels and paintbrushes. They took to the roads to join the protesters and yet they created images and words to make sure we never forget what atrocities we have brought on to these innocent girls as a society. These pencil sketches are an attempt to etch this event in our memory so that we never need to hear about or see another Tilottama.
