Yoon Park’s poem: Glamour

— “ The general purpose of glamour is to make things look different from how they truly are.

They should invent a new trend of dress-up

in which the tighter whatever is you wear the more

space you have to breathe

Truth is, I have never had anyone compare my eyes

to stars before and it is completely disarming

The ugliest parts of me are the ones you pick apart

and disassemble for an outfit all new

I don’t know if I like it or not

yet but I haven’t felt this normal since

My mother sculpts prosthetics so I sew on

a new dress that I mold to fit my body shape

I sew over the parts that you compliment

because when you love someone you unsee

the ugly parts

They should invent a new trend

in which they are allowed to break you apart

into waves and sea foam bits

that you yourself can construct into a outfit

so beautiful and the sea can be your reflection

Isn’t it great?
