When faced with a scornful gaze,
Words uttered with a mocking smile
laughed scornfully.
And I felt,
I have been dishonored,
By the tongue
Which is used to produce nectar for others.
The same tongue ejected poison for me.
My reputation was tarnished.
In the chambers of my heart,
Revenge did stir,
In the recesses of my mind,
Words unheard did confer.
Before the eyes could perceive,
My consciousness questioned, seeking a reprieve.
Those who hold self-respect in high esteem,
Extend their regard, like a tranquil stream.
Yet, those aiming to tarnish my name,
Encountered disgrace,
In their self-made flame.
