Tracy Dickerhoff’s poem: Just Open a Book

I opened a book to just take a look,

And oh the amazing things I learned!

I found treasures without measure

With every page that I turned.

From kings and queens and spectacular scenes,

To knights both brave and bold.

To giant trees, wild trips on high seas,

And Explorers and warriors with stories untold!

From tales of big fishes, genies with wishes,

And adventures to lands unseen!

To ugly mean witches and pirates’ lost riches,

And cows who were traded for beans.

From animals who spoke, beauties who awoke,

And cowboys riding fast steeds,

To jesters who joke and fairy folk,

And heroes with daring and dashing deeds!

From stories of bravery, characters unsavory,

And princesses with crazy long hair.

To small towns quite neighbourly,

And tales that make you feel like you’re there!

So open a book and just take a look.

There’s no doubt in my mind,

From the first page you’ll be hooked,

With the wonders you’ll find!
